There was a song out when I was in junior high, my mom loved it and played it often. The chorus to that song has always remained in the recesses of my mind.
“One day at a time sweet Jesus, that’s all I’m asking of you. Just give me the strength to do everyday what I have to do. Yesterday’s gone sweet Jesus and tomorrow may never be mine. Lord help me today, show me the way, One Day at a Time!
There is so much in this verse…God’s word instructs us to do just that, to take one day at a time. Dealing with today, forgetting yesterday’s mistakes and woes, and hoping for a brighter tomorrow because truly hope for tomorrow is all we can do!
Matthew 6:34 NIV “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
Just give me the strength everyday to do what I have to do! We all have our individual mountains we must scale, raging rivers we must cross, and the dry barren deserts we must traverse. The clock that doesn’t seem to move. The pain that won’t let up. The loneliness and solitude that never seem to end. The failed relationship that now feels like chains. The job that is sucking the life out of you. BASIC LIFE IN GENERAL!!!
Turn to this scripture and arm yourself in his might and ability to carry you through any trial and storm!
Philippians 4:13 NLT “For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
Repeat the above scripture as many times as needed!!! When we speak the name of Jesus into any situation we are freeing him and his mighty power to work alongside and within us!
Yesterdays gone and tomorrow may never be mine. I’m guilty of replaying my mistakes, failures, embarrassing moments, and any disagreements over and over in my head. Reliving the moment as though the repeat button in my brain got stuck!
Philippians 3:13 ESV “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.”
The Lord forgives and forgets our sins when we turn to him and ask for forgiveness. We should try to emulate the same for ourselves! Minus the learning curves said lessons taught!
As for the tomorrow that may never be mine…
James 4:15 ESV “Instead you ought to say, ‘If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that.’
Proverbs 27:1 ESV “Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring.”
And, while we may not know what tomorrow will bring; we can be certain of one thing…if tomorrow arrives, Our Lord Jesus arrives with it…
Isaiah 41:10 ESV “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Dear Lord My Father in Heaven,
Thank you for being with me today and if I am given another tomorrow I am thankful that it arrives with you! I am but a weak body of flesh and bones all knitted together by your loving hands and I gladly walk beside you and share my life with you! Thank you for your provisions, protection, love, grace, favor and your blessed mercy! I love you and I thank you for being my best friend, my champion, and my hero. Thank you for walking beside me as I set forth on this beautiful sunny day. In your name Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen!
Thank you for spending a little time in Sunshine with me and I hope you have a most magnificent day! ❤️☀️🥰
