It’s January first of 2023…
A new year, a new start, fresh ideas, goals, hopes and dreams!
I used to dread the new year and faced it with fear and anxiety! What changes might I have to face? Whom might I lose this year? A whole new year loomed ahead, and it felt daunting!
I still have to fight to overcome these errant thoughts and replace them with thoughts of truth!
Philippians 4:6-7 ESV “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
Isaiah 41:10 ESV “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”
Proverbs 12:25 ESV “Anxiety in a man’s heart weighs him down, but a good word makes him glad.”
Colossians 3:16 ESV “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”
Matthew 6:34 NLT “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Todays trouble is enough for today.”
Deuteronomy 3:18 ESV “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will never leave you or forsake you.”
I still don’t know what my new year will look like! I still could allow myself to fear the unknown and what the future holds or I can stand on the Lords word, trusting him with my today and tomorrow’s.
Jeremiah 29:11 NLT “For I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord. ‘They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”
And that’s enough for me!
I’m off to hang up my new calendars for the new year! I love calendars each new month, flipping the page and revealing a new picture, and with those new pages, I am reminded of his love and mercies that are new every day!
Lamentations 3:23 NLT “Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning.”
Welcome to our new year! We may not know what it holds for us, but we do know who holds us! May you and yours be blessed throughout. And as always, thank you for sharing some time in Sunshine. ❤️☀️🥰
