God’s Names…El Shaddai

Throughout the Bible, we read different names associated with God. These other names reflect God’s character and nature. The Bible is a tool for us as we navigate throughout our lives, but it is also a picture of who God is, his power, passion, provision, protection, guidance, and love for the people He calls his! For Us!

In prayer, we need to call upon God and that particular character or nature we need. Confused, let’s begin with the very first one.

El Shaddai – The Lord God Almighty

The two most common translations of Shaddai are “Mighty” and “Sufficient.” Yet another possible meaning could come from the Akkadian word shaddu, meaning mountain. Within any of these translations, we can see and feel majesty and strength!

Genesis 17:1-2NLT “When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the Lord appeared to him and said, ‘I am El-Shaddai-God Almighty.’ Serve me faithfully and live a blameless life. I will make a covenant with you, by which I will guarantee to give you countless descendants.”

Genesis 35:9-11 NLT “Now that Jacob had returned from Paddan-Aram, God appeared to him again at Bethel. God blessed him, saying, ‘Your name is Jacob, but you will not be called Jacob any longer. From now on your name will be Israel.’ So God renamed him Israel. Then God said, ‘I am El-Shaddai – God Almighty.’ Be fruitful and multiply. You will become a great nation, even many nations. Kings will be among your descendants.”

So, we’ve learned El Shaddai is our God Almighty; we see here He makes mighty changes in lives.

So, are you facing some big monumental decisions? Is there an upcoming move and the unknown is daunting? Is there a future doctors appointment and possible unwanted news? Are there changes you need to make but don’t know how to start or even where for that matter? Are you scared?

Then begin your next prayer with a prayer to Our God-El Shaddai (el shad-di). The God Almighty!

I hope you have a blessed day! Thank you for joining me! 🥰

Today I Pray…

Dear Lord Our Father In Heaven,

I bow before you this morning with humble thanksgiving that I can approach the throne of God as freely as a child runs to their parent.

I can sit on your lap and talk with you about my day! I can dream my dreams with you, share my hopes and desires. I can relate my extraordinary stories, again and again, knowing you are the reason behind the great, and yet you still listen as I talk.

You are there with arms wide open when I have fallen and my knees are bleeding. You scoop me up and hold me near, applying the balm of your love and placing the band-aid of healing upon me.

When the bullies of the world are taunting and threatening, the cold chill of fear and dread blow against my fragile bones; what a blessing to know that I don’t face my enemies alone and in your arms; I find warmth and shelter.

When the world or people in my life bring tears from my eyes, not only do you count them, you gently dry them. I find comfort in knowing you see all that happens to me. You hear every word spoken to me and about me. You are my God, my defender, my champion.

Lord Jesus, by the stripes on your body, placed there by an undeserved beating, you have given me victory over sickness and disease. By your death and sacrifice on the cross, I too will live in heaven with you for eternity.

But until the day I awaken in your presence or one day look up and see you descend. I am everyday thankful for you in my life and the lives of those I love.

I love you, Lord, and in your glorious name, I pray. Amen

Please, make this prayer your own…have a blessed day! It’s Sunday, Our Lord’s day of rest! I hope you will! 🥰

Thank you, Lord…

Good Morning Papa God,

I wish to start my prayer by thanking you for my safe and peaceful night’s sleep. Thank you for waking with me this morning and my quiet cup of coffee.

Lord, I am so thankful for the beautiful blue blanket that covers the sky, the cool morning air awakening the slumber of my home, the birds singing their joyful music, and the peace in my spirit.

I thank you, Lord, for my family. We aren’t perfect, we are human with all the flaws that come standard with these models, we make mistakes, we hurt each other unintentionally but at the end of it all we forgive because we love. Thank you, Lord, for that love!

Thank you, Lord, for never letting us stay in one spot and grow stagnant, that you stretch us and grow us right out of our comfortable boxes and, in doing so, showing us we can trust in you more!

Thank you that the only times you let us fall flat on our faces are the times we think we know what’s best and forget to consult with you, seeking your will and direction rather than our own…Thank you for picking us up, dusting us off, and leading us on your merry way!

Thank you, Lord, for the plans you have for my life when the days strike that feel as though they will never end, it’s such a comfort to know that you have a plan for my life; your word tells me it’s a good plan, a plan of peace, prosperity, no harm and hope for the future.

Your word tells us there will be trials but to be of good cheer because you have overcome the world. Thank you for helping me overcome mine when the occasions arise.

Thank you, Lord, for the security of your arms around me and those I love. I walk in peace because my life and the lives of my loved ones are in your hands, those same hands that hold all the waters of the world in its palm. That’s a mighty big hand, and no matter how big my woes may seem, they never come close to your magnitude!

I love you; I thank you, I pray your love, peace, guidance, and prosperity to those joining in this prayer today. In your glorious name Lord Jesus I pray with humble thanksgiving. Amen 🙏 😌

Who’s Your Best Friend?

Who is the first person that pops into your head when asked who your best friend is! That person you can tell your deepest darkest secrets to, the one who knows you half the time better than you know yourself. The one who always has your back, the friend you can trust!

Jesus spilled his blood for you! You can spill your heart to Jesus!

John 15:13 ESV “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friend.”

John 15:15 ESV “No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from the Father I have made known to you.”

I’ve spoken of this before, Jesus loves us so much and has given us everything he possibly can to save us that God the Father will not even let God the Son know the hour of his return!

Mark 13:32 ESV “But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

So, back on topic, Jesus loves us so much! He, is your best friend! Honestly, your best friend. I imagine when I asked the question who’s your best friend you thought of your spouse, partner, sibling, parent, that special friend! The small issue with our earthly friends is we are flesh and blood. Try as hard as we might, we will let each other down, a slip of the tongue, the wrong mood on the wrong day, busy with their own lives when ours is crashing! Normal and life!

Consider this, when venting or expressing to a friend in actuality, you release any said emotion. You can do the same thing with Jesus; he already knows your heart, life, world, scenarios! He just heard those hurtful words, he just saw that slap, he just witnessed that injustice, he felt your heart stab in pain and gently counts each tear that falls from your eyes.

You can get real and honest with him, tear down the walls of protection and appearance, let your hair down, let it all out! You may need to go somewhere and scream until you cannot scream anymore; you may sit defeated, shoulders drooped, and not a single word or sound escapes but the tears roll. You may need to talk until you’ve used every word in the dictionary, don’t worry. He will sit as long as you need and attentively listen.

Then when you are finished, your mind and emotions are spent, then get up, grab your Bible go to the concordance and start looking up words that pertain to your situation, and read what God has to say! Feel the soothing balm that happens by simply opening a Bible, take heart in the direction, and move forward!

Sounds like a pretty good recipe!

I know this recipe to be good as I use it frequently, and yes, Jesus is my best friend! Be blessed today and thank you for joining me. 🥰

Your Mountain…

What is your mountain? You may feel as though you have a mountain range, and the trek looks endless. The terrain is rugged, and the battle is real!

These mountains are often debilitating and can range from financial stress to any form of addiction! You may be fighting depression, loneliness, fear, anxiety, or abuse! Your workplace may be a daily challenge; your marriage, relationship, or children might feel like a steady climb!

So if you are standing at the base of your mountain looking up at its peak and feeling overwhelmed, let me offer you a solution.

Mark 11:23 NLT “Then Jesus said to the disciples, ‘Have faith in God. I tell you the truth; you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart.”

I am a living testimony to the validity of this message and scripture. I have a couple of times created mountains with my credit cards! I was so burdened and buried underneath that mountain of debt I didn’t think I was ever going to see daylight.

I prayed my financial mountain to the Lord. I asked for his forgiveness in my lack of control and sense; I asked that my mountain be cast into the sea! I cut up my credit cards and stopped spending frivolously. Once I prayed my peak into the sea, I then every day would thank God that my mountain of debt was gone!

Did it happen overnight? NO!!! That’s where the part of the scripture reads that you must really believe and have no doubt, no matter how long it takes or even on those days when it feels like it never will!

Did my mountains eventually end up dissolved like mud at the bottom of the sea? Yes!!!

I hope if you are looking at a mountain peak today that these words will help get you on track and offer you hope! And remember to constantly stare at the mountain less and stare at the mountain mover more!!!

Be blessed and thank you for joining me. 🥰

The King of Peace Is Coming…

I was asked by my youngest son to bring a Bible yesterday on our boating adventure. He wanted to share God’s word as we spent a quiet morning outside in his glorious creation. Once we settled in and puttered our boat out to a sunny spot, I prayed and opened my Bible. I was so excited and wished to share with you this morning because you know I love it when old testament prophecies and new testament collide!

Isaiah 11:1-5 NCV “A new branch will grow from a stump of a tree; so a new king will come from the family of Jesse. The spirit of the Lord will rest upon that king. The Spirit will give him wisdom and understanding, guidance and power. The spirit will teach him to know and respect the Lord. This king will gladly obey the Lord. He will not judge by the way things look or decide by what he hears. But he will judge the poor honestly; he will be fair in his decisions for the poor people of the land. At his command evil, people will be punished, and by his words, the wicked will be put to death. Goodness and fairness will give him strength, like a belt around his waist.

This is a prophecy of Jesus. “A new king will come from the family of Jesse.” Jesse was the father of David…King David, to be exact. King David was born of the tribe of Judah! Jesus was born within that lineage and tribe. The Lion of Judah!

The verses speak of the spirit that rested upon that king, giving him wisdom, understanding, guidance, power, and respect for the Lord. The spirit being spoken of here is The Holy Spirit.

Matthew 3:15-16 NCV “As soon as Jesus was baptized, he came out of the water. The heaven opened, and he saw God’s Spirit coming down on him like a dove. And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my son, whom I love, and I am very pleased with him.”

“This king will be glad to obey the Lord.” Jesus, upon walking this same tainted world that we do, had the same choices as we do! Those choices are right vs. wrong, good vs. evil, God’s ways vs. Satans.

“He will not judge by the way things look, or by what he hears!” You know the age old adage, Not everything is always as it appears- warnings against hasty decisions and action, possibly taking the time to hear both sides! “He won’t decide upon what he hears,”…erasing the belief that he who speaks first or the loudest wins!!!

I love this verse so much! “He will judge the poor honestly and will be fair in his decisions.” The world doesn’t seem to operate on these standard any more! Money talks and walks!!!

“At his command, evil people are punished; the wicked will be put to death. Goodness and fairness are as a belt around his waist.” As it should be! We can think of wicked and evil as the murderers and child molesters etc…but we all carry evil and wicked within us, we all slide down slippery slopes from time to time even if it’s just wrongful thoughts or gossip, gentle manipulations, a little white lie here or there. I don’t know about you but I am so thankful for his goodness and fairness. I am most humbly grateful for his grace which is way more than I deserve.

I want to end today with the knowledge that if you are born again, you have the same Holy Spirit living in you as Jesus did! He will instruct, guide, teach, warn and give you all the necessary power you need! You just need to ask for it and rely on it! It’ll be there every time, I promise.

Thank you for joining me and I pray for you a blessed day. 🥰

Today I Pray…

Dear Lord our Father In Heaven,

Reach down from your throne on high and touch us with your glorious love.

The freedom we celebrate today, the holiday marking our independence as a nation. One nation under God, many overlook or have forgotten that fundamental motto of the United States of America. I lift those who continue to carry our flag of stars and stripes proudly. I ask Lord that we would remember the sacrifices.

Let us be thankful for the freedom we have, the freedom because of your sacrifice on the cross. We are alive because you died; we are freed from death because you rose again!

Be with us, Lord, keep us wrapped securely in your hands of love and safety. Thank you, Lord, for sending a strong breeze of responsibility and respect engulfing the many who won’t heed the warnings of fireworks vs. our dry land today. Keep us safe from stupid!

Help us to remember as we shout, “Let freedom ring,” that freedom isn’t free. Send a spirit of love and peace to those who have paid dearly for the freedom we celebrate today. Let us not forget!

Our world feels dark; while some of us hold up our countries flag with honor, some burn it. We are living in an age of disrespect and destruction. I thank you for your protection over those of us who belong to you. Open the ears of the deaf and the eyes of the blind that all may have the opportunity to know you and your peace and freedom.

Thank you for your guiding hand upon all levels of our government that they would hold up your ways and standards and not the new wave of weirdness that lurks.

Lord, I lift our youth and ask for strength, godly leaders, and influence. Guard these young minds against the new agenda that is being taught, pushed, and publicized. These ways and teachings are opposite of yours, so we know where they derive from. Lord, I have grandchildren growing up in this culture, and to be honest, it makes me nervous.

I thank you for your hand upon those who look to you first! In your glorious name Lord Jesus I pray. Amen

Be blessed today, and Be Safe…Fireworks, one of the words in this compound is FIRE!!! Please be smart; please be careful! Thank you for joining me. 🥰

God Hears and Remembers…

I was visiting with my dad a few weeks ago; we were laughing as we traveled down some paths of fun memories of family adventures. He was reminiscing of the different people throughout his life who led to experiences that led to where our memories became.

As he was sharing the tales of his young adulthood and life, it became apparent to me my father has been protected and blessed by God! I was gifted with that thought so solid and loud I interrupted my dad to proclaim, “Well, it’s obvious, dad, that your aunt Minnie and uncle Gerard put some heavy prayers of guidance, blessings, and a hedge of safety around you, and even though they’ve been gone for more year’s then I am old, God is still honoring their prayers.” He smiled and said, “They were very spiritual people, who honored and loved God everyday and you are the only one besides me who remembers their names.” My father always speaks highly of these two people who were so influential in his early years.

Have you ever been in a circumstance or had something happen that immediately stops you and brings to mind a prayer you prayed and had forgotten? Knowing at that precise moment that the Lord God had just answered your prayer from many yesterday’s ago? You had forgotten it, but He hadn’t!

Psalm 38:9 NIV “All my longings lie open before you, Lord; my sighing is not hidden from you.”

Psalm 33:13 NIV “From heaven the Lord looks down and sees all mankind;”

James 5:16b NIV “The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”

Isaiah 49:15 NCV “The Lord answers, ‘Can a woman forget the baby she nurses? Can she feel no kindness for the child to which she gave birth? Even if she could forget her children, I will not forget you.”

So the blessing to take away today is…God honors prayers of the righteous, and we are made righteous through the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ! So, whether you are a prayer warrior, have an aunt or an uncle, a grandma or a grandpa, a mom or a dad, a friend or a spiritual brother or sister praying for you those prayers will last your lifetime!

God never forgets our prayers or us!

I hope by this you are blessed! May you have a fun and safe weekend! Thank you for taking the time to join me. 🥰
