Light of Day…

Good Morning Father,

I sit and watch the darkness turn from black to grey, the trees a silhouette against the solemn backdrop. There’s a lightness peeking up at the mountain peak and the sounds of nature are still asleep.

I thank you for this quiet time of the day. To rise early enough to cheat Mr. & Mrs. Hustle and Bustle. To have to time to sip my coffee, read my Bible, pray and reflect. Thank you Lord for joining me each morning as I chose to spend quiet alone time with you.

Thank you for being with me as I start my day and for walking beside me throughout. Help me to see and recognize the many blessings you silently bestow upon me and mine.

Thank you for this holiday! I love the color that is everywhere, trees adorned in twinkling lights, and homes lit up and shining. Tinsel, bows, and wrapping paper sparkle, and all this together cast a beautiful glow inside my home and heart.

I start my day with you Lord and I end my day with you. I thank you that I never walk alone. You are my light of day, my safety at night! You are my everything.

I love you, I praise you and I offer you humble gratitude for all that is good in my life as it is from you. In your glorious name Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen

I hope you have a blessed day and a joyful heart. Thank you for joining me. 🄰

Love…

1 John 4:19 NIV ā€œWe love because he loved us first.ā€

1 John 4:19 NLT ā€œWe love each other because he loved us first.ā€

1 John 4:8 NIV ā€œWhoever does not love does not know God, because God is Love.ā€

1 John 4:8 NLT ā€œBut anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is Love.ā€

The word Love appears in the Old King James Version 310 times, New American Standard Version 348 times, the New International Version 551 times and the New Living Translation 898 times.

Love; an intense feeling of deep affection; a great interest in something. (Oxford Languages)

Jesus was the only perfect example of love that walked this earth. He looked inward at the heart not the beauty on the outside. He wasn’t impressed with wealth, prestige or notoriety. He loved with a servants heart. He was humble. He cared. He healed. He fed. He listened. He wept.

We as humans are not capable of giving perfect love but we are able to: serve those in need, give ourselves an honest reality check from time to time, care about the people in our lives and community, pray for those who are in need of healing and help, we can always look in the pantry and load a bag or two for a food shelter, we can offer an ear to someone who needs to talk and we can weep for the devastation right before our eyes. The lost, sick, needy and hungry are as much a part of our walk as they were in Jesus’.

This season is indicative of Love and a great time for those of us who are blessed to show some love to those less fortunate.

The food pantries need food, the local grocery stores are selling tickets to provide a holiday meal for a family in need. There are Christmas trees in all the department stores with names of children whose parents need help giving their child a gift.

If you are crafty, contact your local hospital and create yarn hair for a little girl who has lost hers due to cancer treatments. Sew a hem around a large square fuzzy piece of material and make warm comforting throws for the little ones stuck in sterile hospital beds.

The elderly are lonely, do you have a dog who loves to give and receive love? Do you have a lovely speaking voice you could sit and read to a soul that is lonely and forgotten.

Do you love to bake but don’t want all the calories, take a plate of goodies to your neighbors, that little old man who lives down the street. The tired moms who could use an extra hand for an afternoon or an hour or two of alone time and silence.

I realize Covid has changed many things and we may need to call some establishments to find out their guidelines but I believe that this month is the perfect time to share some love. Shall we?

I love all of you who share a minute or two with me in Sunshine. You mean the world to me. Be blessed today and thank you for joining me. 🄰

Always Changing…

The world revolves in a constant rotation, always moving.

Our bodies are in constant motion, even if it’s the slumbering breaths we breathe as we sleep.

The movement of anything brings with it change, it is inevitable and there isn’t anything we can do to stop it and why would we want to?

We, as of today change the last picture on this year’s calendar. This month many of us will change the decor of our homes. We change our likes, tastes, clothes, jobs, vehicles, and associations with.

Day changes into night, the seasons change, our appearances change, our abilities, and views change. Time marches non stop and with it evolves change.

We need the change and changes here on earth for growth and life to continue but often the changes hurt, destroy, scare or at the very least leave us feeling a bit unsettled.

We as people change, we change our minds, our commitments, our promises, our attitudes, our desires, our friendships, relationships, and reliability.

Our world is within a change for the history books. It feels as if everything we grew up learning and knowing is being torn down, erased from, and rewritten.

The changes are prophecy being fulfilled right before our eyes!

So what does one do in a world spinning out of control? What do we grab onto and hold onto for dear life? What is safe? Whom can we trust? What can we trust!

God the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the comfort of the Holy Spirit. The word of God ~ The Bible!

Hebrews 13:8 NIV ā€œJesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.ā€

That’s whom you trust, that’s who you hold onto…because when change is raining down He will hold you up. He is the umbrella and comforter in any storm. He is the hand to hold in the darkness. He is your best friend always. On this, you can be sure. On this, you can stand…God’s word doesn’t change! God doesn’t change!

If your world is a bit unsettled or raging out of control, look up and offer a prayer of peace, quiet, understanding, and strength. I challenge you to simply look up and say, HELP ME!!! Then wait upon the change.

I hope you have a blessed day and can be a blessing to someone. Thank you for joining me, 🄰

An Attitude of Gratitude…

I sit here this morning blessed one because I sit here sipping my coffee listening to the raindrops gently fall on my roof, that being a blessing in itself. But the fact that I have a home that keeps me warm and dry is a good place to start.

I was talking with God, reflecting is more like it and I found myself asking the Holy Spirit to blend with mine, that I long for a gentler me, a warmer me, a nicer me. You see I can be a handful and I’m a bit spoiled.

Hence, the attitude of gratitude!

Dear Lord our Father In Heaven,

You ask us to be humble. You ask us to be meek. You ask us to be grateful. I ask you for your forgiveness! I traipse through life often overlooking the many blessings surrounding me, taking for granted the eases in my world.

I forget to be thankful for the people in my life that take care of me, support me, love me and share their lives with me.

I overlook too often the comforts you have blessed me with; warm clothes when it’s cold, shoes that are designed for my tired wore out old feet. The glasses that give me perfect vision and the husband who supplies how I am able.

A washer and dryer at my fingertips, a stove and an oven, hot running water, and electricity.

Medications that keep my body functioning correctly, food! I have a car that is reliable and a card that keeps the gas tank full. I have a spouse who takes good care of me that I often take for granted and fuss about when he leaves the clothes on the floor rather than being mindful of the beautiful hardwood floors!

Lord, I am spoiled. I change the word spoiled to loved when referring to my grandchildren so this morning I wish to recognize and say a humble thank you Lord for all the good things in my life thank you that I am loved. In your beautiful name Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen

I hope you have a blessed day. I wish for you a day of peace and thankfulness, even if it means going to work, be thankful you have a job! Thank you for joining me. 🄰

Today I Pray…

Abba; Daddy

The word Abba in Hebrew is a term of endearment, much as we use the term daddy or papa.

What a privilege to be able to use a little word that means so much to address the God of the Universe.

Father God, Abba Father, Papa,

I am humbled by the thought Lord, that with all that is falling apart on earth and the battles being fought in the spiritual realm, that you know who I am.

Not only do you know who I am but you know me better than I know me. You know exactly how many hairs are on my head and have kept my tears stored in a jar.

To think that when I stop and pray that you stop and listen. That no matter how much I love you, you love me more. When I am weak you are my strength and when I’m scared you are my comforter.

That through your son Jesus Christ, I can boldly approach the throne to make a request of my king or to just quietly sit in your presence.

That I may sit and talk to you about serious issues or just chatter about my day, to think you encourage our conversations when in today’s world most are too preoccupied to have time to listen or even give you some of their time. Time seems to be a precious commodity these days thank you, Lord, for yours.

It’s Sunday, your day! May we feel your presence in all we do, may we have your grace in all we say, and may we share your love with those in need. In your name Lord Jesus, I pray. Amen

Be blessed, be a blessing and have a wonderful day. Thank you for sharing some of your time with me. 🄰

Parents…

Good Morning Lord,

As I sit and ponder over my coffee all that I need to do today and all I wish to do today thoughts collide in my brain like crashing waves.

I think of the totes of decorations about to make their way from the attic in the shop to the garage and into their assigned places within my home. Christmas music playing, something baking that’s smells wonderful or a candle that makes it smell like something wonderful is baking.

I am reminded that this beautiful, magical time of year also bears the weight of often not enough. I remember the prayers that would start about now, prayers for gifts under the tree for my babies and enough to be Santa too!

How I dislike the old traditional ā€˜you better be good or Santa won’t bring you anything.’ how many parents go to bed with the weight of their child or children thinking Santa won’t come? How many children go to bed wondering what it was they did so bad that made Santa stay away?

Once being one of those parents whose prayer was ā€˜Dear Lord, please let there be enough to go around so my children don’t fall into the holiday lie’ keeps me ever mindful of the tired, overworked, underpaid parent.

So, this morning I place all the worried, tired, stressed-out parents who are wondering just how they will add Christmas to an already maxed-out budget in your hands Lord. Let the miracles of this season fill the air this year Lord, let your beautiful miracles bless those who need!

Christmas is not the trees, lights, or presents with sparkling wrap and bows but society has made it such.

So I ask dear Lord, let your grace, favor, and mercy fall around us and upon us like snow that gently falls from the sky. Holy Spirit, spread your golden light of love around us that we may bask in its warmth. Please, Lord, help us to remember the real reason for this holiday. The birth of your son, the gift of eternal life, and your never-ending love.

With these words, I pray, in Jesus’ name. Amen

Be blessed today and have a wonderful weekend! 🄰

Can You Feel It…

It’s here, the Christmas season! I love this time of year, this is my favorite holiday. The birth of the greatest gift given to mankind.

Isaiah 9:6 ESV ā€œFor unto us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.ā€

There is much within this verse but today I am focused on the ā€˜Prince of Peace’

Can you feel it? There’s a different feeling in the air, there’s a kindness about. People seem to smile more, hold the door for a stranger, smile and nod as you pass on the sidewalk. In some regions, the snow falls creating a Currier and Ives landscape lending to the atmosphere.

The stores are full of bright colors and lights while music we all know and love plays over the speakers. Things have a brighter glow and sparkle, houses are adorned with cheerful decor and the smell of baking fills the air.

For unto us a child was born, the Prince of Peace…

Within all the hustle and bustle, shopping, juggling, and planning. As you bake, wrap and decorate, take a moment or two to feel the peace in the air, listen to the words within the songs and share your warmth with those around you.

It’s the Season…May love and peace fill your heart and spirit and I pray you to recognize where it derives.

Thank you God for the sacrificial gift of your son, our Lord Jesus Christ.

Because, He is the true reason for this Season. I love you! ā¤ļø

I hope your Thanksgiving was blessed and your as excited as I am to spend the next month, our Lords celebrated birth month together. Thank you for spending a bit of your day with me. 🄰

Desires of your Heart!

Psalm 37:4 ESV ā€œDelight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.ā€

Oxford Languages defines the verb as: please (someone) greatly. The noun definition: great pleasure.

The word delight brings to me the thoughts of splashing in a pool on a hot summer day, giggles, squeals of joy, and happiness at surprises. The feeling that it’s the best day ever! Walking as tho your feet aren’t quite touching the ground.

To delight ourselves in the Lord is to pray into a relationship with him. Walking and talking with him. Sharing the beauty he has placed around us. Simply recognizing the works of his hands and allowing his love and miracles to invade our world. He is full of surprises that bring forth little sequels of joy and smiles of peace within his love.

He will give you the desires of your heart! I pondered this verse this morning. The desires of our heart must not be confused with the desires of our flesh, and there is a big difference.

The desires of our hearts if we dig deep are: love, health, peace, joy, and happiness. We long for security, trust, companionship and relationships. Protection, provision, and guidance.

VS. The desires of our flesh: toys, money, prestige, notoriety. What can I have, wanting more, never satisfied, greedy, selfishness and proud?

So, I challenge you this morning to delight yourself in the Lord and see how He showers you with the desires of your heart.

Be blessed and thank you for joining me. 😘

Thank You Lord…

I have a five-year, one-question-a-day journal that I am in my third year of answering oddball, often thought-provoking, silly, off-the-wall questions.

This morning my question was, ā€œwhat did you daydream about today?ā€ In 2019, I answered this question, ā€œI dreamt about Rhyan Rose being here with nana and papa.ā€ (Rhyan is my 3-year-old granddaughter, my youngest)

I smiled and looked up giving a warm heartfelt Nana thank you to my Father in Heaven. You see, I have been fighting a long two-year battle with many factors, departments, States, time, growth, changes, more growth, and lots of faith!

This morning I was able to write in my fun little journal that I don’t remember daydreaming yesterday but as of five days prior…my youngest granddaughter and my daughter are home with Nana and Papa!

Father God, My Lord Jesus Christ, I humbly thank you for listening to our prayers and hearts. I thank you that you are with us always in every decision we make, every step we take. You are faithful beyond faithful. The wait feels so long and often within the journey we get so very tired, thank you for your strength when we are weak, your peace when we are scared. Thank you, Lord, for our paths and your light that illuminates. In love you, I praise you, I give you all the honor and all the glory. You are mighty in this house Father God. In your glorious name Lord Jesus, I pray with a heart full of gladness. Amen

I don’t know the prayers you’ve prayed, the hope you have, your cares that need attention but I do know that our God is faithful every day and even when the journey seems to have no end with the Lord as your right hand you will get there…trust me!

Have a blessed day and try to bless someone else…Thank you for joining me. 🄰
