Bring Us Your Rain O’ Lord…

I hate to ruin anyone’s picnic or wedding day, but many areas of our land badly need rain. I live in the Portland, Or vicinity and how bizarre for someone from the valley to be praying for rain!

Leviticus 26:4 ESV “Then I will give you your rains in their season, and the land shall yield its increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.”

Isaiah 55:10 ESV “For as the rain and snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater.”

Job 5:10 ESV “He gives rain on the earth and sends waters on the fields.”

Psalm 147:8 ESV “He covers the heavens with clouds; he prepares rain for the earth; he makes grass grow on the hills.”

James 5:17-18 ESV “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.”

Lord, I am not a meteorologist , and I don’t wish to pray for anything that would bring calamity by wrongful prayers but I know there are fires destroying our forests, killing woodland creatures, leveling peoples homes and this mornings news of devastation as a small California town is now reduced to smoldering ash. Lord, so many people are homeless, out in these distressing elements, hot and past thirsty. Global warming, our world seems to be cracking in so many places that if you weren’t holding it together in your hands, we’d be sitting amongst pieces of debris floating out in the atmosphere. In short, we are falling apart down here. Lord Jesus, I ask for rain to fall across our land, helping the firefighters with their formidable task, bring a cooling breeze to revive and refresh. I ask for a stirring of the Holy Spirit within your children that we are bold and share you and your life quenching waters with the lost, the tired, the hungry, and the thirsty. I thank you for all that is good in this world as it is from you! I thank you for cooling in temperature and some rain to fall. In your glorious name Lord Jesus, I pray.

Be blessed today, stay hydrated and thank you for joining me. 🥰

I’m Late, I’m Late for a Very Important Date

Good morning! I sit here a bit shocked! I slept 10 hours last night! I haven’t been sleeping well these last few days, and I guess my weary caught up with me.

I have an appointment this morning that I need to get ready for and not enough time to devote to prayer, writing or to you!

Be blessed today, try and be a blessing and I will see you tomorrow ❤️

Big Why’s, Need Big Faith

There is not one of us over the age of ten that haven’t sent the simple question out into the cosmos, Why?

I was listening to Ed Taylor, Calvary Chapel / Aurora, Co. via U-tube the other evening while eating dinner on my back patio and he was speaking of needing added faith!

He suggested rather than moaning and groaning over the problem, to take it to God! Ask him, “what might I learn from this, how am I to grow through this and rather then fight everything, Lord please fill me with extra added faith to trust you to get me through this and through this a champion not the defeated mess I feel right now.”

He addressed the issue of being in situations within our lives where we aren’t happy, comfortable, feel as though we haven’t any control nor at peace. We as humans tend to grumble when in areas of discomfort and strife, but rather than grumbling, we should seek the Lord in prayer for added faith to get us through whatever season He has us in, to help us understand.

His words resonated within me as he spoke, and sure enough, the very next day, I was slammed into a situation where I could cry, gripe, whine and once again ask God, “Why?” and I did just that, old habits die hard. Still, then I remembered Ed’s words, and I changed my vocabulary; I changed my prayer!

“Lord, I don’t know why? I’ve asked for so long I no longer ask I just sadly wonder! Please fill me with the added faith I need to trust in you because your word never fails and I know you have plans for me and that you see each tear that falls. Thank you for strength, peace and joy running through me from head to toe.” Amen

A little while later, I smiled as I noticed while I puttered that quiet had entered my spirit, gently and ever so quietly.

Jeremiah 29:11 NIV “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

I live by this scripture and it’s a good one to pack in your arsenal because there are some days the plan feels far off, some days the future looks bleak! Never lose hope as the Lord’s word never returns void!

So, possibly the next time you find yourself in an incident or are in a situation that often doesn’t make any sense, ask the Lord for understanding, and for added faith!

He’s got you and He’s got me…We’ve got this!!! Thank you for joining me. 🥰

Distractions…

Satan has many great tools to help us fall, stumble, trip, or get sidetracked, he uses them all, and most of the time, we let him!

This morning is a perfect example of one of those tools! I finish my devotions, say my prayer to the Lord, asking for inspiration for today’s devotion. Immediately, my mind goes to the special the skincare line I represent is offering and those I need to inform. The next thing I know, I have an order started, and I have my daughter on the phone asking her what she needs! A text and picture of the special sent to another girlfriend!

Oh, and what color was that nail polish you wanted to order this payday? Better check and see the standings your team is in on the last couple hours of a seven-week tournament! The dog needs outside to potty and oh what a lovely morning I need to open the windows for fresh air throughout the house before the heat of the day arrives…

Distractions, Distractions, Distractions, and it’s only 8:25 a.m. And I fell for every one of them, and by the way, the color of the nail polish is Purple Slushie!

1 Corinthians 10:23 ESV “No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man. God is faithful, and he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

1 Peter 5:8 ESV “Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

John 10:10 ESV “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.”

James 4:7 ESV “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

It’s up to us to recognize the tricks and the distractions. To be bold enough to stay focused even if that means telling someone I will call you back! Not making that call that moment, blocking the beckoning of the internet. Making sure you have a strong cup of coffee before entering into the word! I notice I always seem to get very sleepy when I read my Bible! Hmmm, another trick!!! Right!!!

Aside from Satan’s tricks, we live in a world full of distractions, and if we don’t focus on the right path, we will end up lost!

Proverbs 4:25-27 ESV “Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure. Do not swerve to the right or to the left; turn your foot away from evil.”

So, I giggle a little at Satans defeat as he tried to keep me from writing this morning …Be blessed, and thank you for joining me. 🥰

Today I Pray…

Our Father In Heaven,

I come before you this morning with hopefulness and thanksgiving. I am hopeful today that your grace will cover us as a light blanket and thankful for your love that pours over us like honey.

I long for a day where simplicity rules, the air is fresh, the birds are singing, and my heart feels light. Help us, Lord, to lay down our woes, put up our troubles, set aside our heaviness if even for today.

Lord, please send new air through the trees, a fresh breeze that sweeps out the cobwebs and restores harmony within. An air of lightness!

May the many who are preaching your word be on fire. Send a revival, Lord! Create excitement for you, your word that teaches and guides and offers glorious salvation. Guard our ears, hearts, and minds to all the negative that we are barraged with!

Thank you for the protection of your mighty warriors on the front lines! Thank you that you will not be stopped, hidden, put away, or ignored. You are our mighty God, our fortress in times of trouble. Lord, we are in times of crisis and mayhem. Darkness runs the streets, the media, the minds of most. The truth is distorted and everyone is a scholar. Could you help us to be your bright light?

Those of us who stay fast in your care shake our heads as we listen and watch. Could you help us be your voice in the desert, to offer your life quenching water to the sick and dying? To be strong amongst the weak, to be your example.

Lord, we come to you with much hope for today, tomorrow, and eternity! That’s what it’s all about, spending eternity in paradise with you! We’re ready down here, by the way!

In your name Lord Jesus, I pray this prayer into your hands. Amen 🙏

Thank you for joining me, and may you be blessed today and every day. 🥰

Heavy Heart…But Hopeful!

Dear Lord,

As I pray and sit waiting for you to move my spirit towards today’s message all I sense is the need for prayer.

I lift America to you today Father, we are a wreck and headed to more and more destruction. Our government is no longer for the people; Their guise is but they are all about their plan and agenda and will destroy anyone who gets in the way!

We are living in a time once again of Sodom and Gomorrah! I heard of a new swinging couples mobile home park that’s just opened in Louisiana! “Build your house and share your spouse!”

Ministers are now wearing preaching scarfs over their robes with the colors of the pride rainbow! I can’t even get started over the hijacking of the rainbow. I can no longer wear or display the beautiful colors of the rainbow, which is a symbol of a promise from you, God not a sign of sexual sin relationships.

Your word is being distorted and watered down and the meanings changed. Your word is read in a fashion that makes everyone and everything acceptable but we know this not to be the truth and your light.

Our world is full of darkness, violence, opinions spewing hatred, and what gives these people, actors, athletes the idea that we even care what they think. I, for one, do not and wish the world would shut up!

Lord, your word tells us it’s not going to get any better, in fact it’s going to get a lot worse. I lift up the lost, confused, lied to and the people so full of hate and opinions that their voices spew venom everywhere.

I pray for an outpouring of your spirit over our land that we who hold you near have the strength, wisdom, and fortitude to speak up against all the wrong being spoken today!

The lies being taught in schools, the media filtering and delivering only what they want us to hear. The if it feels good, it’s alright, movement and teachings. Please don’t say anything that might offend someone; no longer speak the truth!

Those of us who belong to you are so ready for your return! In the meantime, keep us safe within your loving arms, let our voices of truth be heard, help us to find and lead the lost. In your glorious name Lord Jesus, I pray, Amen

Thank you for joining me today, and stay safe! Be blessed and be a blessing! 🥰

God’s Directory…Peace!

Often and primarily for the new or non-believer, prayer and talking to God is a 911 call! Yep, in specific crises, even those who proclaim not to believe will cry out to the unknown god.

God has designed us to seek him and have a relationship with him; this is why we have an essence of something missing within ourselves or lives when He isn’t present.

I have learned through my walk with God that he will take care of me and supply my needs! I have come to appreciate and strive for peace. Peace within my world, home, family, life, heart, and spirit.

I can and also pray the 911 prayers, but while in the tempest of that storm, I pray for peace as I endure the wild waves that crash and the winds that blow.

John 16:33 ESV “I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have tribulation. But, take heart; I have overcome the world.”

1 John 4:4 NCV “My dear children, you belong to God and have defeated them; because God’s Spirit, who is in you, is greater than the devil, who is in the world.”

2 Thessalonians 3:16 ESV “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.”

I love that scripture because I know it works! I have problems, I can dwell on the problem and let it cloud my day (and I do at times for awhile) but then I turn it over to God! When my mind wants to worry some more, I stop it and return it to God until I have the peace I desire. I refuse any longer to carry havoc when I can give it to God, trust him, and know him to be true, so I choose peace instead!!!

Isaiah 26:3 ESV “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts you.”

Philippians 4:6 ESV “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” I rest my case!

John 14:27 ESV “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.”

Romans 15:13 ESV “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”

Galatians 5:22-23 ESV “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. There is no law that says these things are wrong.”

And my favorite…

Philippians 4:7 ESV “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

This scripture is fantastic when you have reached the place of total trust in our Lord. I experience this scripture and still shake my head at the blessed peace I carry, all the while walking through some significant storms.

I’ve watched my granddaughter, who, at the age of two years old, started a battle with cancer and beat it. Thank you, Jesus! The times I held her with tubes coming from everywhere, surgery after surgery. I carried the peace of my Lord through it all! Were their tears and scary moments? Yes! I’m human, but I didn’t let the fear linger…Because

He who is in me is stronger then he who is in the world! Look above and reread 1 John 4:4…

I don’t know if you are being tossed around in a storm of life or floating along within a balmy moment, whichever the case may be; I wish you peace!

Be blessed today, and thank you for joining me. 🥰

God’s Directory…Scared!

Good morning, “How May I direct your call?” The Scared Department, please, “One moment, I’ll connect you now.”

Isaiah 41:10 ESV “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand.”

2 Timothy 1:7 ESV “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

Deuteronomy 31:6 ESV “Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.”

Psalm 34:4 ESV “I sought the Lord, and he answered me and delivered me from all my fears.”

Psalm 56:3 ESV “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.”

Exodus 14:14 ESV “The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

When I first started attempting to read the Bible and turn to God’s word for help, strength, and direction, one of the hardest things I found was where to go, what book to read, what verses? Today we have a plethora of avenues and answers in the palm of our hands; we can look up a word and attach scripture to it and find exactly where in the Bible the Lord speaks of such.

For those who don’t want to have to do the searching, I thought I may spend a few days exploring some scriptures on some popular words in our society today!

Have a blessed day, and thank you for sharing some time with me. 🥰

Trusting God!!!

I need to begin this devotion by stating that I am writing this for myself as much as anyone who may read these words.

Trusting God sounds easy, should be easy, and is easy; however, it resembles a muscle, and if you don’t use it, work it, build it, then it will never grow.

Having faith and trusting in God is a physical action as well as a spiritual one. When faced with situations, news, conditions, the threats of life, I can either give in to that fear, dread, nervousness , and all the negative emotions surrounding it or stop, breathe and turn it over to God.

Proverbs 3:5 ESV “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding.”

Romans 8:28 ESV “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”

Joshua 1:9 ESV “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Psalm 112:7 ESV “He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.”

Isaiah 41:10 ESV “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous hand.”

Isaiah 26:3 ESV “You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you!”

I could go on for days with scriptures on trusting the Lord our God!

I want to make a note here! I received a text this morning regarding a person in prison who needs to stay there, however a parole review has been requested. Instantly my stomach jumps, gets nervous and I feel a snake of fear coil…however I refuse to give Satan any delight in my knee jerk reaction.

No!!! I will not be afraid for myself or the family members this monster has hurt! I instantly started praying and looking up scriptures to give me peace and strength in the one who holds me and mine in his hands.

Romans 12:19 ESV “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, ‘Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”

I know the Lord has seen all, is seeing all, knows the motives behind. I will walk in peace because I know that whatever the decision or outcome, God has my babies and me covered!

Who is the first person you run to when you are scared? Who is the first person you run to when you’re hurt or hurting? I pray you will start practicing your spiritual training today and building your faith muscle. When you partner with the God of our Universe there isn’t anything down here that compares.

He’s got you! He’s got me! He’s got this! Be blessed and thank you for joining me. 🥰
