I have started a quick look at my favorite scriptures book. I can grab, open, and breathe in God’s words of comfort and steady reminders instantly, read, and continue!
I seldom sleep through the night, and often, if my mind is full, I find it hard to settle in and drift back to sleep. I fight my lists, thoughts, cares, dreads, and worries.
So, instead, I have been grabbing my little notebook with my God jottings. I take a few quiet moments to read, calming and changing my thoughts, thus enabling me to float back into blissful sleep.
Alongside scriptures assuring me that God will supply my needs and is always with me, I thought some scriptures of His comfort would be great additions to our peaceful arsenal and my little book.
Isaiah 41:10 ESV: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
Isaiah 49:13 ESV: “Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth; break forth, O mountains, into singing! For the Lord has comforted his people and will have compassion on his afflicted.
And will have compassion on his afflicted!
Do you ever find, as you read scripture, that you forget that it was breathed and written for you? All of God’s promises are for you, me, and us!
We are his children; he loves us more than we can fathom!
Psalm 23:6 ESV: “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”
Romans 8:28 ESV: “And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
Isaiah 66:13 ESV: “As one whom his mother comforts, so I will comfort you; you shall be comforted Jerusalem.”
Matthew 11:28 ESV: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
And finally:
Romans 15:13 ESV: “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.”
