Did you know that you can talk to God? I’m not talking about well-rehearsed prayers or using all the scriptural verbiage so your prayers sound perfect and plastic!
I’m talking about getting down to the bottom in the mud wrestling with God! Your prayers may begin like this: I am so not happy right now! I don’t understand! I seriously hate this! The I hate him/her/them! I don’t want to do this! God, are you there prayers, and why are you letting this happen?
When we share a true relationship with another we eventually allow them to see our shortcomings, faults, ticks, and hidden scars. We open ourselves to them, sharing and growing!
The same can happen with our Lord Jesus! He is the best friend you will ever need! You can go to him any time of the day or night and he’s there! You can call on him and he will pick you up! We can be as real as we need to be because he already knows our today and our tomorrow!
If you think about it prayer isn’t for God, it’s for us! How many times have you begun a prayer with; Lord, I don’t… but found by the time you were ending your prayer you were thinking, well maybe I can!
Instinctively we know that God works all things out for our best! Often the trials, problems, and people in our world are the very sanding paper God uses to polish us to a smooth glowing finish!
Psalm 145:18-19 ESV: “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. He fulfills the desire of those who fear him; he also hears their cry and saves them”
Hebrews 4:16 ESV: “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”
Psalm 56:8: “You have kept count of my tossings; put my tears in your bottle. Are they not in your book?”
This last scripture sums up my point. God sees us, watches over us, and is always with us. So, be free today! Free to sit down and look up and just start talking. I promise you will be met right where you are and you will be heard! God may not remove or even fix our problems but he will make a way for us to successfully get through them!
Isaiah 43:19 ESV: “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”
