I am blessed! I am a grandmother!
Proverbs 17:6 ESV: “Grandchildren are the crown of the aged, and the glory of children is their fathers.”
The next generation of our lives. They arrive all bundled in their personalities blended with the gentle mixture of our babies. To view and hold your Children’s children is an amazing gift.
As grandparents, we can impart wisdom in ways that are fun and enlightening. “Grandma, how do you know so much?” they ask. “Because Grandma has old eyes and has seen many things,” she replies.
2 Timothy 1:5 ESV: “I am reminded of your sincere faith, a faith that dwelt first in your grandmother Lois and your mother Eunice and now, I am sure, dwells in you as well.”
Paul, is talking to a young Timothy who was in his early years of ministry. Because of Paul’s relationship with Timothy’s mother and grandmother, Paul begins to mentor Timothy who ends up becoming a companion and missionary partner.
Proverbs 22:6 ESV: “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.”
2 Timothy 3:14-15 ESV: “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed, knowing from whom you learned it and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.”
Grandparents can play a vital role in a Child’s life. We are in the slower years of our lives. We have time to visit, teach, talk, and most importantly listen! We have time to play Barbies, read lots of story books, take walks around the block all the while discussing leaves and pine cones, invent mystical places where fairies and gnomes live, build blanket forts, make mud pies in our Minnie Mouse kitchen, make treasured memories with Christmas traditions or rocking the birthday parties by baking special seven-layer cakes just for them. ☺️
We bring a sense of safety and security while they bring giggles, adventure, and fun.
Job 12:12 ESV: “Wisdom is with the aged, and understanding in length of days.”
Proverbs 16:31 ESV: “Gray hair is a crown of glory; it is gained in a righteous life.”
Isaiah 46:4 ESV: “Even to your old age I am he, and to gray hairs, I will carry you. I have made, and I will bear; I will carry and will save.”
As we age our bodies change, they slow down and so do we! But, we’ve just read how magical slowing down can be! Grasp it! Enjoy it! Gotta go, I have a date with my four-year-old grandson and new adventures await! 😉❤️
