Did you know there was an actual “Doubting Thomas?”
Matthew 20:24-29 NIV “Now Thomas (also known as Didymus), one of the twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. So the other disciples told him, ‘We have seen the Lord!’
But he said to them, ‘Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.’
A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!’ Then he said to Thomas, ‘Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.’
Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
Then Jesus told him, ‘Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Matthew 14:31 ESV “Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, ‘O’ you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
We are counted as the blessed! We believe tho we have not seen or have we? How many prayers have been answered? How many tears have been dried? How much strength has been given? Where did that unexplainable peace come from? The beautiful sunrise and sunset. The majestic forests, the oceans that pound in rhythm, rivers that race, and streams that giggle. Carpets of wildflowers waving in a field of glory. The summer sun and the autumn chill. The Lord is everywhere, we just have to open our eyes and look!
James 1:6 ESV “But let him ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind.”
Doubt is a very close relative to fear! Strong tools used by the enemy; if he can get your mind off God and back onto your situation, he’s ecstatic! He has succeeded in causing you to resemble a kite on a windy spring day! Up and down, here and there…tossed about within worry!
Don’t feed your doubts ~ instead ~ Feed your Faith!
Hebrews 11:1 NIV “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
Remember this; God may not answer our prayers the way we want him to, but He will always answer them. And that’s what we call faith!
Be blessed, be strong, be patient, and be assured!!!
And as always, Thank you for spending a few moments in Sunshine. ☀️❤️☺️
