It’s January third of twenty, twenty-two…and as I watched the news last night I realized that the only thing that changed was the number.
And me…
Naturally, the change of the date and the beginning of a new year isn’t going to take away the crime, killings, abuse, drugs, sex trafficking, hunger, fear, and the destruction caused by horrendous natural disasters.
No, the world is the same as it was yesterday, last week, last year, and centuries before.
However, we have the choice as to whether we remain the same! I can easily fall back into old habits and ways I am trying to change. I can choose not to catch myself before a careless word flies out of my mouth. I could let minor things get under my skin causing major irritation. I might allow myself to dwell on past events and relive the anger and mood that arrives with said memories.
Or…
I can see what’s happening, recognize the downward path and say a prayer before the spiral.
“Lord, please quiet my tongue before a damaging word escapes. I ask for your peace when people or circumstances are testing my limit of patience. Help me Lord, to look at today and see life, not dwell on yesterday that is over and gone. I know I can’t change the world but I have the power to change mine. I thank you for your strength, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, grace, favor, and mercy. I thank you for helping me apply those qualities to others. In your name Lord Jesus, I pray.”
Philippians 4:13 NLT “I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:7 NLT “Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.”
This year I choose: peace, kindness, love and joy! Care to join me? Be blessed today and thank you for joining me. 🥰
