Hide and Seek…

Genesis 3:9 NLT “Then the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”

The man was Adam and where was he? Hiding! He had eaten from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil! In an instant Adam and Eve’s eyes were opened to a new emotion, that being, guilt and condemnation as they knew they had done something wrong. They had sinned against God!

They had one command from God, one, and they couldn’t even obey that, we were doomed from the start.

The verse I write from today goes on to speak of the Lord walking in the garden in the cool of the afternoon. This was a daily ritual with God, to walk in the beautiful garden of Eden with his male and female creation. The Lord God walked and talked with them, enjoying a friendship, a relationship.

Then slithers in the great deceiver. Did he deceive? Yes and No! He spoke the truth that eating the fruit of the tree of knowledge of both good and evil would open their eyes to both. The deceiving was in the way he presented the forbidden fruit!

The same still goes today. We are tempted at every corner and junction in our lives. Satan will always make sin attractive; the pill to help you lose weight, the unmerited claims on your income taxes, the coworker who just understands you, the lie because you didn’t want to hurt someone…Satan has taught us well, how to justify!

Great, now what! That fruit turned out to be a delicious mistake, the weight is gone but now you are faced with an addiction, you are now getting garnished every paycheck because you owe back taxes, the affair that broke marriages and families into a million pieces.

This is when we automatically do what the first inhabitants did…we hide! We hide from people we hurt, we hide and we bow our heads in embarrassment and stop talking to God.

Thankfully, Our Lord loves us to much to let us hide for long! Keep your ears open because no matter what the sin, He still loves us and will seek us from our hiding spots…because He enjoys a relationship with you.

Be still and listen, He’s asking right now, “where are you?”

Thank you for joining me this Sunday…Be blessed! 🥰
