A Lens not a List!!!

I listened to a powerful message by Steven Furtick of Elevation Church, yesterday morning, please look him up on U-Tube he’s a powerful teacher!

Anyway…he made a statement within his message that was an arrow that went straight to my heart and a similar one taught by my much-loved Pastor Lynn.

“Pray with a lens, not a list!”

In other words; don’t head into prayer with, “Lord, change that spouse of mine! Lord, make this, this and that, that! Lord, I need…”

We would be better off if we headed to the throne and our Lord with prayers a bit closer to this; “Lord, I know there is strife, please show me where my faults lie so they can help my spouse see the example of you in me! Lord, help me to rest in your plan, Lord, I thank you my needs are met.”

It stems from our attitude when we pray, when we start from within, everything on the outside to fall into place.

Romans 12:2 ESV “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of the mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

James 1:5 ESV “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.

Without Reproach! Meaning, we don’t have to fear God being disappointed with us because we don’t understand, because we ask, because we wonder, because we sometimes doubt, because we’re confused, lost, forlorn, angry, sad, rude, cranky, impatient. After all, we question because we don’t understand and he invites us to come to him without fear or hesitation.

1 Corinthians 14:33a ESV “For God is not a God of confusion but of peace.

2 Timothy 1:7 ESV “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”

So the next time you find yourself in a prayer that sounds more like a list to Santa, stop and try rewording using instead of ‘Lord, I need ~to ~Lord, help me to see.’

Be blessed today and thank you for joining me. 🥰
