Who is the first person that pops into your head when asked who your best friend is! That person you can tell your deepest darkest secrets to, the one who knows you half the time better than you know yourself. The one who always has your back, the friend you can trust!
Jesus spilled his blood for you! You can spill your heart to Jesus!
John 15:13 ESV “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friend.”
John 15:15 ESV “No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from the Father I have made known to you.”
I’ve spoken of this before, Jesus loves us so much and has given us everything he possibly can to save us that God the Father will not even let God the Son know the hour of his return!
Mark 13:32 ESV “But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”
So, back on topic, Jesus loves us so much! He, is your best friend! Honestly, your best friend. I imagine when I asked the question who’s your best friend you thought of your spouse, partner, sibling, parent, that special friend! The small issue with our earthly friends is we are flesh and blood. Try as hard as we might, we will let each other down, a slip of the tongue, the wrong mood on the wrong day, busy with their own lives when ours is crashing! Normal and life!
Consider this, when venting or expressing to a friend in actuality, you release any said emotion. You can do the same thing with Jesus; he already knows your heart, life, world, scenarios! He just heard those hurtful words, he just saw that slap, he just witnessed that injustice, he felt your heart stab in pain and gently counts each tear that falls from your eyes.
You can get real and honest with him, tear down the walls of protection and appearance, let your hair down, let it all out! You may need to go somewhere and scream until you cannot scream anymore; you may sit defeated, shoulders drooped, and not a single word or sound escapes but the tears roll. You may need to talk until you’ve used every word in the dictionary, don’t worry. He will sit as long as you need and attentively listen.
Then when you are finished, your mind and emotions are spent, then get up, grab your Bible go to the concordance and start looking up words that pertain to your situation, and read what God has to say! Feel the soothing balm that happens by simply opening a Bible, take heart in the direction, and move forward!
Sounds like a pretty good recipe!
I know this recipe to be good as I use it frequently, and yes, Jesus is my best friend! Be blessed today and thank you for joining me. 🥰
