1 Samuel 17:45-47 NIV “David said to the Philistine, ‘You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you had defied. This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s and he will give all of you into our hands.”
1 Samuel 17:50 NIV “So David triumphed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone; without a sword in his hand he struck down the Philistine and killed him.”
We grew up hearing the David and Goliath story. It was my morning reading and as I read the verses again I was struck by David’s faith. Remember he is referred to as a boy in scripture during this time period. He helped his father tend sheep and also played the harp for King Saul. He’s cocky and sure of his ability to take care of his father’s sheep from predators. Why is this loud, mouthy giant of a man any different than a bear? Besides David carried the spirit of God within him!
For the Battle is not yours, but Gods – 2 Chronicles 20:15
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me – Philippians 4:13
The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear – Psalm 27:1
The Lord will fight for you; you need only be still – Exodus 14:14
But my God shall supply all your needs – Philippians 4:19
Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest – Matthew 11:28
We need to have the David kind of faith! No matter what giant you are facing, you need to know that you know you aren’t facing it alone. Take God with you onto those frontlines. Gather your five smooth stones, find that slingshot and face the day with God as your armor bearer! You can’t lose!!!
Be blessed, Be a blessing and Thank you for joining me…🥰
