It’s Sunday, the Lords appointed day of rest. Naturally this is where my mind goes today, my favorite day of the week. To rest and to be still … they often go hand in hand only to just as often wrestle with each other.
To Rest: “being or characterized by dormancy.” This is a physical act, taking an afternoon nap or when going to bed for the night. Our bodies and minds need this type of rest on a daily basis to function properly. Same effect as charging your phone battery and clearing away todays searches and data. Enabling us to be fresh, recharged and ready for the next day.
To Be Still: “Being still is a state of mind. A state of quietness.” This is where we allow ourselves to stop striving, stop fighting and to work on renewing our spirit. This could be: reading for enjoyment, a video game, setting back and watching a movie, yoga, meditation, a hot bubble bath and lots of prayer.
Psalms 37:7 NLT “Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act. Don’t worry about evil people who prosper or fret about their wicked schemes.”
Exodus 14:14 NLT “The Lord will fight for you. Just remain calm.”
Isaiah 32:18 “My people will live in safety, quietly at home. They will be at rest.”
Resting and being still don’t come easy for many and requires some dedication. To reach a place where your mind and body can be quiet at the same time is hard but with determination and practice it can be done. I hope you have a favorite room, hiding spot or big comfy chair that you can go to, let out a deep sigh, set back and watch the clouds float by, send a message in a bubble to those you love now living up there, wave and smile. Gods got this and you.
Be blessed today and thank you for joining me. 🥰
